 Description:
The Hotel Vecellio is situaded on the Fondamenta Nuove, the long promenade on the northern side of Venice. Through its windows you can admire the north side of the lagoon: the island of Murano, Burano and Torcello and it’s from where that boats leave to connect those islands to Venice. On clear days one can see the Alps, which appear to rise by the end of the lagoon. Near the hotel, over 400 years ago, lived Tiziano Vecellio, the great genius of the 16th century Venetian painting. Perhaps it was the fact that from here he admired his beloved mountains of Cadore, where he was born and which he left to go to Venice when he was young and choose this area to have his home and studio.
